How to Use Magnesium Spray: A Simple 1-Minute Routine

By Lyndsay Sunderlin, founder of Angel OH Botanicals, Youngstown, Ohio · Updated September 27, 2026 · General education, not medical advice

Quick answer: Spray 3 to 5 times onto clean, dry skin, massage lightly until it absorbs, and use it daily or in the evening as part of your wind-down routine. A mild tingle is common, especially at first.
How to Use Magnesium Spray: A Simple 1-Minute Routine

How much magnesium spray should I use?

Start with 3 to 5 sprays. That is enough to cover both lower legs or your shoulders and neck. You can add a few more once you know how your skin feels with it.

Where should I spray it?

Spray it on areas with healthy, unbroken skin that you can easily massage. The most popular spots are:

  • Calves and the backs of the legs
  • Shoulders and the back of the neck
  • Arms and forearms
  • The soles of the feet before bed

Avoid your face, freshly shaved skin, and any cuts or irritated areas.

Why does magnesium spray tingle?

A mild tingle is common with magnesium spray, especially the first few times you use it. It usually fades within a few minutes. If it bothers you, try it on damp skin after a shower, use fewer sprays, or rinse it off after 10 to 20 minutes.

When is the best time to use it?

Use it whenever it fits your day. Many people like it in the evening as part of a wind-down routine, after a workout, or after a long shift on their feet.

Spray or bath soak?

The spray takes about a minute and goes anywhere. A bath soak takes 15 to 20 minutes and is more of a slow, relaxing ritual. Many people use the spray on weekdays and the soak on weekends.
